Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer transfer window.

The winter transfer window is just a fortnight away, and naturally the transfer rumors are getting more and more intense. Bayern Munich will be linked with many attacking players for the next few months, as the club is set for some big changes over the next few transfer windows. The club hierarchy is eager to freshen up things by bringing in young talent to replace their departing veterans.

Thorgan Hazard is the latest player to be linked with Bayern Munich. According to Kicker (via Sky Sport), Bayern are ready to rival Borussia Dortmund to sign Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with the Black-and-Yellows for some time now, but his impressive numbers this season have also attracted interest from Die Roten.

More from Bayern Strikes

Gladbach find themselves in a tricky situation as Hazard’s contract expires in 2020. There has been no concrete news about a contract renewal either. They will be forced to sell him at a relatively low fee in the summer. This contractual situation is also likely to attract the attention of Bayern, who have made similar cut-price deals in the past.

Hazard can play anywhere behind the striker, whether out wide or centrally. He has primarily played on the right for Monchengladbach this season, but is equally capable in the other positions. The Belgian has already scored eight goals and secured six assists in the Bundesliga this season.

His performances have been rewarded with a sustained run in the Belgian national team. He might not be as talented as his brother, Eden Hazard, but he still has the potential to become an important player for a top team.

The clearout at Bayern Munich has already begun. Arjen Robben recently announced his departure at the season’s end, while Franck Ribery also hinted at a summer exit. Serge Gnabry is slowly finding his feet at Bayern, so he is likely to play a crucial role after the departure of this veteran duo. Bayern will also be praying that the injury problems for Kingsley Coman are a thing of the past, as they desperately need the French winger to fulfill his potential at the club.

Die Roten have been linked with several attacking players since the start of the season. Thorgan Hazard is perhaps the safest bet for the defending champions, though. He has developed very well at Gladbach and his best years are just ahead of him. Moreover, he will hit the ground running straightaway at Bayern, as he has already played in the Bundesliga.
