Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal reportedly wants to return to Italy and play again for his former club Juventus.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Arturo Vidal at Bayern Munich. The Chilean midfielder is currently recuperating from a knee injury he suffered last month. Bayern Munich have not yet commented on Vidal’s future like they have done with other players.

According to a report in Calciomercato, Vidal is eyeing a return to Juventus this summer. The report suggests that the Chilean is likely to force a move to the Bianconeri.

Vidal left Juventus to join Bayern Munich in 2015 after spending four years with the Italian champions. Calciomercato also report that Juventus have other priorities in the summer, but they are not ruling out a move for Vidal

Earlier this week, Napoli were also linked with a move for Vidal. This rumor was based on the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as the new manager of Napoli.

Ancelotti has been fond of the Chilean midfielder and reportedly wants him to bring some experience to the Napoli midfield. However, a move to Juventus will surely be more appealing for Vidal due to his attachment to the club. The Chilean has also been linked with Chelsea and other English clubs in the past, but a move to Italy seems more likely.

Vidal have been linked with a departure for most of this season. The Chilean had a relatively poor season by his lofty standards. He was criticized for his physical condition by Jupp Heynckes shortly after his arrival.

Vidal responded well in training, though, and enjoyed a great period of play toward the end of the hinrunde. However, an injury just before the crucial Champions League tie against Real Madrid in April marred his season.

Bayern Munich have already acquired the services of Leon Goretzka for next season. The German midfielder will join on a free transfer from Schalke. Along with Goretzke, Renato Sanches will also be back at the club after his abysmal loan spell at Swansea City. Bayern are just not ready yet to give up on the teenage midfielder.

So there is a lot of competition for places in Bayern’s midfield next season. There were reports suggesting Bayern Munich will look to cash in for Vidal as he’s now on the wrong side of 30. Moreover, he also has only one year left on his current deal.

There has been also been some sudden uncertainty surrounding the future of Thiago Alcantara after his cryptic interview earlier today. Bayern are likely to sell only one midfielder, and it remains to be seen whether it is the Spaniard or the Chilean.
