Alonso wants to retire at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich’s Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso has expressed his desire to see out his career at the club. Alonso who has been a pivotal member of the German champions in past two years. He admitted that this could be his last club in an illustrious career.

Alonso signed for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014 after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid. He adapted well under Pep Guardiola and became main man in midfield for the German Champions. He has won two league titles with Bayern Munich, one DFB Pokal and one DFL Supercup.

Ahead of the big group stage encounter against Atletico Madrid, Alonso told Marca that he had a thought about going Italy before retirement. The World cup winner now believes  that it is unlikely that his physical condition will allow him one more good move in an eventful career.

"“I think Bayern will be my last club .While my mind and body can bear it, I want to keep playing at the elite level.”“And that will be with Bayern – I do not think there is another step for me in senior football. I would go to Italy, but there is not time to give myself there.”"

Alonso was reunited with his former manager Carlo Ancelloti at Bayern this season. The Spaniard is into his last year of contract . The Spaniard is no hurry to discuss it with the club as he will make his decision as the season goes on.

"“I have not decided.As the months pass, I will go slowly taking one direction or another.”“I’ll see what I feel or whether the club sit down with me to discuss continuing or taking another path. I do not know what will happen. Time will tell. I do not burden myself with that. I have the freedom to decide and I do not set deadlines.”"

Bayern Munich have been eliminated in the semifinals of Champions League in past three years. Alonso believes that it is his dream to win the elite competition with the German Champions although he already has the winner medal with his previous two clubs Real Madrid and Liverpool.
